Search for Stocks by Company Name

Before researching a stock, you first need to know the ticker symbol for that stock. If you know the company that you want to buy stock from, then you can use the company name to find the ticker symbol

A great, free place to search for stocks by the company name is Big Charts Symbol Lookup. There, you can enter the company name in the keyword box. You can choose a specific country where the company's headquarters is located, or you may select all countries if you are unsure. Next you choose what you're looking for. The options are fund, index, currency, or stock. You should choose stock or fund when searching for a ticker symbol. When you search, the most relevant stocks will be listed along with their ticker symbols and the exchange they are traded on. The list will also have links straight to the stock's chart.
